Breaking the Silence

During more than 50 years of war, hundreds of thousands of Colombians left their homeland. The journey of migration has been long, and often painful.  Conciliation Resources works to support women of the Colombian diaspora to share their stories, memories and hopes and to claim a place and a voice in the county's peace process. Through talking and sharing, they are also healing.

Colombia faces an uncertain future. On 2 October the people of Colombia narrowly rejected a peace deal to end one of the world’s most violent conflicts. The vote highlighted the huge divisions in society and the need for initiatives like this, that can bring the Colombian people together and give them the space to discuss their past and present.

With this film, we aim to highlight that there are Colombian women living in London and around the world, who are working for peace and whose experiences should be heard and acknowledged, as Colombia works towards a peaceful future.
