Kidasha - Escaping Abuse
Sexual abuse is highly prevalent in Nepal: 95% of girls have experienced some form of sexual abuse, and rape is the first sexual experience for one in three Nepali girls. Despite laws against rape, statutory rape, incest and sexual exploitation very few perpetrators are ever prosecuted despite the fact that they are known by their victims and the victims of are often stigmatized and maginalised. We work with our partner Shakti Samuha to run the only centre for young victims of trafficking and sexual abuse in Pokhara focussed on rehabilititating these girls and reintegrating them safely back into society. Watch this video to see why this centre is so important.
Kidasha is a UK registered development organisation that works to reduce the causes and impact of entrenched poverty and social exclusion, stopping exploitation and violence against children in Nepal.
