Flush away fear with Toilet Twinning

Toilet Twinning’s Big Squat campaign highlights the plight of more than 1 billion women and girls worldwide who are still without a safe, hygienic toilet.

If women and girls don’t have a proper loo, they are vulnerable to attack, as well as disease. In some communities, culture dictates that women have to wait until dark to venture out to the loo in the bush, which makes them even more vulnerable. If there are no toilets at school, teenage girls miss class up to a week each month – or drop out of school altogether.

Currently, progress towards tackling the global sanitation crisis is too slow: the Sustainable Development Goal to ensure access to clean water sources and sanitation for all by 2030 is impossible to reach without concerted, united international efforts.

Toilet Twinning invites people to twin their toilet to help us provide clean water, safe toilets and hygiene training in some of the world’s poorest communities. When families build their first-ever toilet, everything changes. One tap, one toilet, one life at a time, together we are flushing away generational poverty.
